So let’s start with some history,
You are unknown to us in America and Europe, can you tell us more about
you?
My name is Simone Sapienza, I´m 40 years old, graduated in Marketing. I´m an artist since 1995. I met urban art in 2010 in a stencil workshop in Atibaia, where I live (country side of São Paulo). In that moment I fell in love with stencil, urban arts, graffitis and stickers… After that workshop I painted on the streets of São Paulo. I made my first solo exhibition in Brasil and then painted in Hungary and participated in exhibitions in Paris and Berlin.
Is this the first time you participate in that kind of project? A contest? Why did you attend the contest?
About the contest: I read about it in Facebook that Mis (Museum of Image and Sound) would perform a “artists living” with some urban artists like Binho Ribeiro. I got interested.
We were told that from this workshop would be created the cover of a CD, and just before the beginning of the experience I knew it was for the Madonna´s Single Cover (MDNA), the involvement with the art director Giovanni Bianco and the project would be Keep Walking Brazil, partnership between Mis and Johnnie Walker.

Experiences were exchanged between the artists, the manager Binho Ribeiro and Giovanni Bianco, Madonna´s art director.
Are you a fan of Madonna? Have you been to one of her concerts before? What is she to you? As a woman artist?
Yes,I am a fan of Madonna. Madonna´s music was part of my life.
What inspired you in the concept of the Superstar cover ? Tell us about the development process of the cover?
Some inspiration of my art is the strong women, who follows their dreams , for whom nothing is impossible. So is not too difficult to me to creat the single cover since Madonna is a strong and talented woman who can live on her art. Woman who speak for her own.
We showed the ideas to Giovanni and Binho, exchanged many ideas with the artists, playing and testing on the wall of Mis each artist got the work finished.
Each artist received a 1 meter square canvas panel and the challenge was to work with this size of piece. We usually paint the walls, most paints are very large, and to squeeze our ideas in that small space is more difficult.
How was the meeting with Madonna?
I never went to a Madonna s Concert before this one. I got my mind blowed up with this one (so amazing and beautiful).When Madonna broke the glass, at the beginning…my heart just stopped!!!
Madonna invited me to watch the concert from the Golden Triangule. I was there on Tuesday and Wednesday. Wow!!!! It was one of the most impressive things I´ve already watched.
On Wednesday a van took me to Morumbi, and in the backstage was a Johnnie Walkers panel and a copy of my art (Madonna s wish) for the official photo.
I saw all the movements before the show, the dancers and the staff…I heard the group praying and preparing themselves to the show…( a great moment to me).Then Madonna came with the dancers ready to the show. We talked about the project. She said: “Congratulations, good work. I liked a lot.” Then she asked for a make up touch, we took pictures together and they went to the stage.
What are your current other projects (and future)?
About the future: I hope that this conquest takes me to perform new projects so I can paint in a lot of cities around the world.
I am very happy and enjoying this moment a lot, cause many people is interested in Brazilian graffiti and women graffiti.
How do you deal with this instant and unplanned exposure (you are the superstar now)?
About the question if I think am I a superstar now: I don’t think I´m a superstar now, but who knows the future?
